HISTORY OF THE CHARITY
Deaf Orphan’s Education Trust was founded in 2004 with the aim of supporting deaf orphaned children who suffered from social exclusion, lack of education and exploitation due to their disability.
Deaf children were found to be under-privileged and also disadvantaged in the class room.
Deaf Orphaned children in Malawi are among the world’s poorest children and live in a small densely populated country dependent on substantial economic aid from the World Bank and IMF (International Monetary Fund).
53% of the population lives below the poverty line, while many children have become orphaned due to HIV-Aids and poverty related circumstances.
